Top Ten {Tuesday}: Why I love the Jesus Storybook Bible…

… I really don’t know how to narrow this down to 10 things.  Seriously – I love everything about this Storybook Bible…

Jesus Storybook Bible

1. Every Story Whispers His Name.

2. Sally Lloyd-Jones and her heart that children should hear the story of Christ throughout the entire Bible (hence #1).

3.  The truth is not sugar coated for kids. Here’s an excerpt from “Son of laughter – God’s special promise to Abraham, from Genesis 12-21:”

Years passed and things didn’t get any better.  People were still just as cruel and mean to one another.  They still got sick and died.  God’s world was still full of tears.  It was never meant to be like this…

This makes it easier in my mind to talk to kids about sin and death – it’s not glossed over, but it’s really easy to understand what happened and why.

4. And sadness is not skipped either. God’s sadness about men’s disobedience and running from Him – the sadness surrounding Jesus’ death on the cross…

5. Then the Good News is shared! From page 175:

God himself was going to come.  Not to punish his people – but to rescue them.

God was getting ready to wipe away every tear from every eye.

And the true party was just about to begin…

6. David and Goliath. It’s one of Elias’ favorite stories in the book.  It’s fabulous – and it uses the word “terribler.”  I love it.

7. The illustrations are fabulous.

8. Elias asks to read it on a daily basis.

9. What other Storybook Bible includes a story about Revelation? None of the 5 others that we own do (I checked)… others might, but this one is fabulous!

10. Sally Lloyd-Jones answered some questions from Amanda about the book – and she’s sharing them with you tomorrow!

PLUS – the giveaway that we promised you… STAY TUNED!!!  oh, tomorrow is so exciting…
