Palm Palms, a Giveaway & The Beginning of Our Resurrection Week!

I am so inspired by all the Meaningful Easter posts you guys are linking up! I thought I knew everything I wanted to do with the kids this week to celebrate Jesus’ Resurrection but now I have even more ideas–and I hope I can incorporate them into our celebration this week!

Yesterday was a crazy day and we didn’t get to do the Palm Sunday stuff I wanted to do. But it wasn’t a big deal because at church they had real palm branches and did a parade through the hall. Asa thought he was at Disney World he was so excited. They talked about it all day!

Regardless, I decided to do some Palm Sunday stuff this morning. First we made some palm branches from our PALMS! We traced our hands on paper then cut them out, glued them to a craft stick and had a dance party downstairs!

We actually have TWO favorite Palm Sunday songs. Who knew, right? Well, they aren’t Palm Sunday exactly but they do say, “Hosanna!” which is what the people were shouting to Jesus when he rode into town on the donkey.

The first song is called, “Shout Hosanna” from The Donut Man. Lydia loves this one because it begins with “Jumping up and down, shout Hosanna!”

Our other favorite song is called “Hosanna Rock” from Yancy. This was the first songs Asa ever sang when he was little and he pronounced it, “Ho-nanna, Ho-ho-ho-nanna!” Now he can sing all the words (correctly) and do all the motions, including when they “play the drums and rock the guitar!” I love this one because it talks about how you can praise the Lord in different ways–clapping, instruments, raising your hands, etc.

I loved seeing the kids run around the room singing and dancing to the Lord. There’s nothing that makes me more exciting than hearing words of praise and adoration come from my children’s lips. This Easter I will celebrate our Savior by helping my hubby with the preschool ministry at our church. Then it’s off to his Aunt’s house for dinners with the fam…my fav candy are Hershey’s eggs….don’t ask how many I’ve eaten already!

I’ll be celebrating Easter at home this year with my husband and two girls. I’ve been looking for great Kids’ Christian music!

We’re having Easter dinner at my mom’s with the whole family.

We will make an Easter mountain (from Noel Piper’s “Treasuring God in Our Traditions” book) and do homemade resurrection eggs and resurrection cookies. I love all your craft ideas, will probably add some to our week!

We will be celebrating easter at our church and then to my sweet grandparents’ house for some lunch! We are going to do several things to prepare the kids that I have gotten ideas for from this blog! (the resurrection rolls and the garden) (Lord willing!) AND, of course reading the easter story from books checked out at the library and our children’s bible! Yay! He is risen!

I do love me some Cadbury Creme Eggs! And I have no idea what we’re doing for Easter other than church in the morning.

We’re doing Resurrection activities all week to celebrate Easter. Our next big activity will be the Last Supper on Wednesday (even though I guess it should be on Thursday). Loving all the inspiration from you and your readers, too!

I love the making palm branches from your palms! I’m gathering so many great activities and ideas to help make Easter meaningful and focused on truth. (My little guy is too little for this yet, but soon!) Thank you for another great idea!

We are celebrating Easter with a Easter themed family fun night, serving a low income area of our community by helping with an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, the Church on Saturday night so that we can serve our church guests on Sunday!

Anyway, for Easter, I’m having a preschool teacher training class. I didn’t schedule it, but I am teaching it.

We are celebrating with family and are also doing activities each day.

We actually have a lot going on! We are catching up with some friends on Friday night, celebrating with extended family on Saturday, church Saturday night (it’s when we usually go to church) and then the actual Sunday will be a relaxing day at home with just me, my hubby and daughter!

I just love this season as it provides a special opportunity to emphasize big truths to little hearts in a fun, celebratory way… Tomorrow we’ll be taking the kids to their first Good Friday service at our church. We spent today having a ‘heart lesson’ that was just so amazing. It is incredible to see them grasp WHY Easter is so important.
