Happy Birthday Jesus Party

This week every kid in our preschool department at church left with one of these–a polka dot box filled with cake mix and frosting.

Plus, a card full of suggestions and encouragements to have a family Happy Birthday Jesus party!

Such a simple gift. Such a simple activity. But the anticipation and excitement it brings is just one small way to focus your kid’s Christmas celebration this year. In fact, we will be serving our Happy Birthday Jesus cake on Christmas Day!

Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday, Jesus!

PS…Posting will be light around here until the New Year. The best way I know to impress my kids during the holidays is to just hang out with them. So, that’s what we’ll be doing! I hope you do the same!

This post is so encouraging! Is there anyway you would be willing to encourage all of us and share what was on your little note you stuck inside? I am looking for new ideas, and my heart leapt when reading this to my hubby! Where did you get your polka dot boxes also? Thanks for sharing this with us! :)

The note was from my church. I don’t think I still have it–basically it said, “Your child has been learning about Jesus’ birth for the past month. We’re giving you this cake/frosting to help you celebrate the birth of Jesus. You may want to serve this cake on Christmas morning before presents. Or have a birthday party for Jesus on Christmas Eve.” Only it was much more exciting and insightful than that! :)

Here’s a post about it from the church’s blog: http://insidenorthpoint.org/kids/2010/12/22/christmas-sunday-in-waumba-land/
