DIY Beanbags For People Who Don’t Sew & Aren’t Too Crafty

Ever since I made that David and Goliath beanbag for Asa, he wants to make beanbags. He clearly has me confused with someone who knows how to sew or make adorable fabric crafts. But because we’re back into Mommy-and-Asa days, he keeps bringing up beanbags. After we drop Lydia off at school, I’ll ask, “What do you want to do today?” He’ll say, “Let’s make a craft. Can we make beanbags?”

I finally acquiesced and I’m actually pretty impressed with how cute they turned out. And they didn’t require a trip to the store or any sewing!

No Sew DIY Beanbags

All you need is some leftover fabric (I had a scrap of material from Asa’s Ace Party and an old camp t-shirt from when I was like 12 years old), colored duct tape (this is a must for any craft closet), scissors, beans and a stapler.

DIY No Sew BeanBags with Duct Tape & Upcycled Tshirts!

We cut out a piece of material about 6 inches wide by 12 inches. Basically a giant rectangle. You can do whatever size you want.

Fold in half and then staple around 3 sides. Keep the staples close together so the beans don’t fall out!

Fill with beans. (I don’t have a picture of that. Because, well, you try taking a picture, filling a bag with beans while a 3 year old helps you!)

Upcycled Tshirt & Duct Tape Beanbags

Then fold a piece of duct tape evenly over all four sides. Trim the corners and you have a fabulous beanbag that is guaranteed (I think!) not to bust, spill or leak!

Easy DIY No Sew Beanbags

Asa and Lydia have been playing with them all week! Now to think of some beanbag games…

That’s my kind of craft!

These are such a great idea, especially since there are so many cute duct tapes out there now! Thanks for sharing :)

Really, it’s all about the duct tape! ;)

No joke! I am getting less-crafty as I get older. This was so easy. :)

Cool! I bought some pricey ones a couple of years ago and they hardly have any beans in them so they’re hard to use for some things and I’ve been pretty disappointed in them. This looks simple enough that I could pull it off and i like that I can customize the amount of beans. Thanks for the great idea!

Love your beanbags…but I’m really commenting on that photo of Asa. LITTLE RYAN! Oh my. Miss you all! xo

Oh the wonders of duct tape! I am especially digging all the new colors and designs it is coming in as of late. I guess one way to make these even more leak proof would be to put the beans in a ziploc bag first and place inside.

Ha! I am so laughing at these! I’m always wanting to make cute colored bean bags…then remember I have to actually sew…now we can make some! Thanks!

I’m glad you’re laughing! ;) I was so proud of myself for producing something kinda cute!

Awesome! I should try making these with my girls; they love bean bags!

LOVE- thank you! I have old flannel blankets that have been begging to be bean bags for about 100 years and now it might actually happen- thank you!

Yeah! Old flannel blankets. I have some of those, too! That would be cute!
