Updated to add: The Omnibus sale is over, but you can still buy all these fabulous resources individually! Simply click each title below!

Homeschool eBook Omnibus Sale
What’s an Omnibus? Well, technically (and according to the smart homeschool mamas at iHomeschool Network who put all this together) it’s French, from Latin, for all, derivative plural of omnis, a combining form meaning “all,” used in the formation of compound. First known use: 1829

Learn something new every day, don’t you?

But what it really means is: fabulous deal for you!! This is an eBook bundle valued at over $350. Fifty-three ebooks for only $25. That is less than 50-cents per eBook! That is a DEAL!

First Day of First Grade

I dropped my sweet girl off at first grade today. FIRST GRADE?! How is this even possible? She has grown up so much since the first day of Kindergarten it is unbelievable! My tends-to-be-shy daughter wasn’t even really nervous this morning. She said, “I’m not usually nervous on the first day of school. Just at Open House.” (Open House was last Friday and she was happy to discover her desk is right next to her BFF and the new girl!) I’m so thankful to the Lord for our cool school and for our first day of homeschool tomorrow!

Oh yeah, Rebecca is ready for school, too. (Lydia was actually probably more excited about Rebecca’s look-alike uniform I scored on ebay than going to school herself!)

So, what is the First Day of School like at your house?

Our Learn & Play Room

{alternate title: School Room Organization and Decoration From a Mom Who Is Neither Organized Or Good At Decorating.}

Remember the playroom yesterday? *shudder* Yeah. It took us all week and a last minute trip to Ikea but it’s finally finished! Wanna look around?

The view from the door….

Those Expedit shelves from Ikea are like my love language. I wish I had one in every room of my house. I haven’t quite figured out how to decorate the top of something so long. Right now it’s got random stuff on it that doesn’t fit anywhere else. How much do you love that Viking Hat next to the picture of the little girl reading? (Well, I love it a lot.)

That little gallery wall next to the window did not turn out how I hoped. It’s too symmetrical or dark. Or something. But it’s better than an empty wall, I guess. Here’s a close up of the pictures up there:

I made the “W” canvas. It didn’t turn out like I hoped. But it’s personal and Asa’s handwriting is cute. The prayer on the clipboard was copied from something I found on Pinterest. The Mary Had a Little Lamb print is from Sarah Jane. The hand-drawn kids are courtesy of Lydia. I have a soft-spot in my heart for pandas (Amanda Panda, you know) and that panda print is actually the front cover of a Land of Nod catalog from years ago.

The bulletin board below the kinda-cute-gallery-wall it is where we’ll do our calendar and display our We Choose Virtues cards. (By the way, all our We Choose Virtues stuff came in the mail this week and it is so cute!)

Here’s another shot from the door, this time looking at the desk…

I did another gallery wall over there with some scripture prints (which you know is like my favorite thing ever!). I’m still missing one because my printer BROKE last weekend. Ugh. Here’s a close up with links so you can get these yourself…

Top row: Lydia’s art class, Jeremiah 1:5, Galatians 5:13
Bottom Row: Still working on that one, Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Isaiah 41:10

When you stand next to the desk, you’ll see…

The spot to the left is Asa’s school area. I so totally love it.

Those little book shelves are actually spice racks from Ikea. He’s got a magnetic bulletin board to display his work or to play with magnets. And the little baskets are where I put his tot trays.

Last is Lydia’s work area. She has a magnetic calendar which she LOVES to update. The file folder and magazine boxes hold her work and textbooks.

The numbered boxes below are our version of workboxes. I put her work inside and when she’s finished with it, she pulls off the number and drops it in the purple can above. We’ll see how it works for First Grade.

Not bad, eh? I’m no Nester, of course. But it feels happy in there! I’ve got plans for a few more updates and if they turn out cute, I’ll show you soon!

Do you have a kid-specific room in your house? I never had a playroom as a kid so I love having this place to play, learn and create!
