Suprise! It’s Day 2…which I guess isn’t really a surprise anymore. But still, it’s fun! Did you enter yesterday’s handmade giveaway? Well, let’s get on to Day 2…
OK, crafty mamas and papas! We’ve got a craft tag for you today! I’m going to share the most recent craft I did with Lydia. And then you’ll get a chance to link up one of your favorite (or most recent) crafts you’ve done with your kids. If you link up you could win big! Or kinda big anyway. So, read on…
Lydia got $5 from her grandparents a few weeks months ago. I’ve been wanting to talk to her about money, tithing, giving, saving, etc. I thought a bank craft would be a good way to introduce responsibility with money to her.

I found a few cute turn-the-two-liter-bottle-into-a-pig and stuff like that. But I thought, do I really want a plastic pig in Lydia’s room? Uhm. No.
Finally I looked up jar crafts. I mean, there’s always the glue-a-jewel-t0-the-outside but I wanted something crafty-er. I finally decided on the stained glass look.
Supplies Needed:

old spaghetti or other glass jars, white glue, paintbrush, tissue paper, scissors and a little water
Directions:
1. Use paintbrush to paint white glue onto a clean jar. Some people suggested watered down glue. I think white glue straight up worked better.

2. Cut or tear several pieces of tissue paper into small squares pieces. We chose to do color-families: purple/indigo/lavender, green/green-yellow/yellow and of course pink/light pink/hot pink!
3. Place tissue paper on glue. We decided not to do a pattern. OK. Really, doing a pattern was out of the realm of possibility. But it would be cute. (This was actually the tiniest bit frustrating to her because she wasn’t quite sure where to put them all. Or maybe it was me because I wanted them in neater lines?)

4. Paint a water and glue mixture over the tissue paper to set. Some of the tutorials I read on this said to just paint over it with glue again. That did NOT work. It tore the tissue paper. Watering it down a little worked much better. And I soaked it.

5. Let dry and enjoy. The tissue paper gets nice and hard. They are extremely sturdy and not too much of an eye-sore in her room! Plus, Lydia loves them!

So cute! Emily has one of those big plastic baby bottles from when she was a new born… Olivia has nothing. This would be a lot of fun.
I need to get back into crafting… I have no posts to link to.
