Happy New Year, everyone! I know I’m late in coming back to the blog, but I needed a bit more of a break than I had planned…
Thanks for being a part of such a wonderful year with us at Impress Your Kids – I’ve had such a fun time getting to know you guys, your kids, and your blogs! I can’t wait to see what the Lord does in all our lives this year.
I am typically a big New Year’s resolution-maker, and I always aim too high, so I typically let myself down by the end of January each year. This year, I have made no resolutions. I want to just try to be the woman/mom/Leigh that God wants me to be – and I’ve been working on that for a long time.
So, a part of my trying to be a better mom is continually trying to figure out what to do with the boys every day – and since I’m continually trying, I frequently feel burnt out. I really think Amanda wrote this post specifically for me. What a wonderful encouragement to get me back on track with the boys – with hope and a joyful heart!
And I frequently need a reminder about one of my duties as mother to my boys, and our purpose for this blog:
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. (Deuteronomy 6:4-9 NIV)
Time to get impressing!

i just wanted to tell you how much i appreciate your blog…so often i feel like i get through the day by the skin of my teeth and that is just the day to day…it is important to be reminded that my job as a mom has a greater importance and if the day to day doesnt always get done, maybe it was for something more important…and i appreciate all your ideas, they are encouraging and helpful

Thanks for the reminder, Leigh. Reading that scripture is boils it all down, doesn’t it? We’re just to be a mom and AS we mother, we’re to impress our kids. Beautiful! Can’t wait for this new year!
